Reed Vestal Ranches has acquired a new ranch fronting Highway 6 that will become the home of everything we do, where our cattle are bred, raised, prepped, clipped, and sold. We’re inviting the industry to help create a 30,000 to 50,000 square-foot, first-of-its-kind facility built around how cattle are truly worked and cared for.

THE MISSION

Reed Vestal Ranches is building a state-of-the-art show cattle facility between 30,000 and 50,000 square-feet under one roof, designed around five main goals:

Create a place for daily care and preparation that prioritizes flow and usability

Grow and maintain hair in the Texas climate

Provide a premier experience for cattle sales

Support professional video and photography

Create a place where families want to spend time

The facility will be located on our new Highway 6 ranch, giving us the unique opportunity to design without the typical land limitations. We want the layout to prioritize function, flow, usability, and future growth.

By submitting an entry to the Reed Vestal Ranches Show Barn Design Contest (“Contest”), you agree to these Official Terms & Conditions.

1. Contest Overview

Reed Vestal Ranches (“Sponsor”), in partnership with SteerBidder, is hosting the Show Barn Design Contest to gather creative ideas and concepts for the design of a state-of-the-art show cattle facility.

The goal of the Contest is to collect ideas, layouts, and concepts from individuals across the agricultural, design, construction, and show cattle communities to help inspire the development of a world-class show barn.

2. Eligibility

The Contest is open to individuals and teams of all backgrounds, including but not limited to:

Architects and designers
Engineers and builders
Agricultural professionals
Show cattle exhibitors and families
Students
Fitters, herdsmen, and industry professionals
Anyone with knowledge, experience, or ideas related to show cattle facilities

Participants must be at least 18 years of age at the time of entry. Minors may participate only with approval and submission by a parent or legal guardian.

Employees of Reed Vestal Ranches, SteerBidder, and their immediate family members are not eligible to win.

3. Contest Timeline
Submissions Open: Friday, July 31
Submission Deadline: Sunday, August 16 at 11:59 PM Central Time
Winner Announcement: Saturday, August 22

Entries submitted after the deadline may not be considered.

4. How to Enter

Participants must submit their entry through the official contest submission form located at:

reedvestalranches.com/barn-contest

Entries may include:

Floor plans or sketches
Site layouts
Barn concepts
Photos or examples of existing spaces
Design notes and explanations
Other supporting materials that communicate the participant’s ideas

Entries do not need to be professionally drafted, engineered, or permit-ready. Creativity, functionality, and practical knowledge will be the primary considerations.

5. Judging Criteria

Entries will be evaluated based on:

Practicality and functionality
Understanding of show cattle operations
Creativity and innovation
Efficiency of workflow and animal movement
Ability to improve the overall cattle preparation and sale experience
Consideration for exhibitors, families, and visitors

Judging decisions will be made by representatives selected by Reed Vestal Ranches and are final.

6. Prizes

A total of $25,000 in prize money will be awarded among five winners:

1st Place: $10,000
2nd Place: $7,500
3rd Place: $4,000
4th Place: $2,500
5th Place: $1,000

Prize payments will be issued within two business days following the official winner announcement, provided all required information has been received.

Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be substituted.

7. Ownership and Use of Entries

By submitting an entry, participants grant Reed Vestal Ranches permission to review, display, share, and use submitted materials for purposes related to the Contest, including marketing, promotional purposes, and the development of the show barn project.

Participants retain ownership of their original submitted materials. However, by entering, participants acknowledge that Reed Vestal Ranches may incorporate ideas, concepts, features, or elements from submitted entries into the final barn design.

No individual participant is guaranteed credit, compensation, or ownership rights related to any concepts incorporated into the final facility beyond the awarded contest prize.

8. Originality of Entries

Participants represent that their submission is their own original work or that they have permission to submit any included materials.

Entries must not contain copyrighted, trademarked, or proprietary material belonging to another party without proper authorization.

9. Publicity Release

By accepting a prize, winners agree that Reed Vestal Ranches may use their name, submitted materials, photographs, and contest participation information for promotional purposes related to the Contest without additional compensation unless prohibited by law.

10. Disqualification

Reed Vestal Ranches reserves the right to disqualify any entry that:

Does not follow the submission requirements
Contains inappropriate, offensive, or unlawful content
Violates another party’s intellectual property rights
Is determined to be fraudulent or misleading
11. Changes or Cancellation

Reed Vestal Ranches reserves the right to modify, suspend, or cancel the Contest at any time due to circumstances beyond its control or if necessary to ensure a fair and successful contest.

12. Release and Limitation of Liability

By entering, participants agree to release and hold harmless Reed Vestal Ranches, SteerBidder, and their respective affiliates, employees, representatives, and partners from any claims, damages, losses, or liabilities arising from participation in the Contest or acceptance of any prize.

13. Governing Law

The Contest and these Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the State of Texas.
